Does anyone know much about which slants came with rings other than plain cast? I have seen a few 1971 orso and older heavy tuck or industrial engines with chrome rings. And today pulled apart a very hi mileage 1977 engine and noticed almost no cylinder wear and it had moly rings i have never seen that. Was thata 1977 only thing or a certain option? |

the moly rings are just coated cast iron. assists in break in. and wears off. could be that engine was just maintained better than most? or replaced, with not as many miles as you think? |

Ya it is old and never know what has been done over the years. I just appeared untouched by the severely worn timing chain wearing into the cover and badly sunken in valves. And it doesnt look poorly maintained or well maintained kinda dirty inside but not too bad. But i ts standard bore and most hone marks present and no detec6able ring ridge. Most slant i have had had a noticeable ridge. These rings look like the top ring is the molly filled ring of you know what i mean. |
