Post subject: | Question about initial settings on Carter BBD |
I rebuilt the BBD on my slant a year or so ago, and tinkered with the "DON'T TOUCH" hex-head adjustment screw on the vacuum cylinder that operates the jet needles. Someone I spoke to along the way said to just turn the screw all the way down clockwise, so I did. It ran okay. But I just swapped in a 'new' engine, so now I'm wondering if that's really the correct baseline setting. I've got a A/F meter on order, so I'm assuming I can get it a lot closer once that's installed. In the meantime, the new/used engine is about to make its first voyage--in this vehicle--to Seattle in record-setting heat in order to tow a boat back to Portland. So, I'm pretty concerned about running too lean. Any advice appreciated. |
