Does the 1945 suffer the same top cover warping as the BBS does?

I've put a new float in this carb, and it is still letting fuel leak out around the top cover, as well as at the base plate.

Also put a new brass float in, and reset the float level down a bit. That may have helped, but it sure did not solve the problem.

what am I overlooking?

Try doubling up on airhorn-to-main-body gaskets. Make sure both gaskets are exactly alike, and are the correct ones.

Great idea Dan. Thanks..

I think I will also reassemble it with out the accelerator pump linkage attached, so I can take the air horn off and check the float level when it is installed on the engine. I appreciate the ease of service of the BBS/BBD carbs the more I get to futz with this Holley.

Image visual fuel green dots always above power valve stem up or down Image with the power vale stem pushed up its just below the air holes in the main well wild guess fuel level, should around the dots.. measure and keep notes in your tuner book

That is picture of Accelerator pump well, 1945 fills from top no check ball. So lowest fuel level should be close to top of spill way, bottom of ruler is at bottom of spill way or cover entire pump well. No spec for actual fuel level.

One thing that seems to work when putting carb back together with used parts. Put top of carb in freezer ,that will shrink down the pump cup. While main body of sits on warm engine.

Am I understanding that "as long as the fuel level is high enough to spill into the accelerator pump well" there is enough fuel in the carb for proper functioning?

Maybe the idle and off idle would work ,pump shot would work. Maln system unsure ,working on this now.

Short video on air bleed main system https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJMXh5F ... assKustoms

As can be seen in that video the fuel level relative position to the air holes is important at least in my opinion. High fuel level main system start to early and too rich not enough air in mixture. Low fuel level main system start to late and air holes above fuel level, too much air mixture too lean.
