Post subject:  my future \6 goals

Hi, guy, I am new here but am looking at building a turbo slant. I have been building ford 2.3 turbos (best so far made 273rwhp and 340ftlbs :D ) for a while and am looking at something different and I love mopars so here I am! anyways here is my plan, I am first going to build it up with the stock engine. I will be making my own turbo header, I am trying to decide about using a super six(?) manifold and a holley 2 barrel or go ahead and bolt on a hyper-pack manifold and convert it to EFI. stock .63 t-3 from ford turbocoupe and 3" exhaust. I would like to shoot for 150hp on the stock shortblock. I will be building another engine up for my killer slant. This will include Diamond forged pistons, polished rods, ported head, with large vlaves, Custom turbo cam 222deg dur intake, and 218 exhaust ground on a 114 lobe sep angle, and the hyperpack intake. from here i will be Using GM EFI system, and an hx35w holset turbo. I would like to make 300 to 350rwhp with this settup, more if the rods can handle it.

Anyways anyone know how much a set of reworked \6 rods can handle?

With a set of good forged slugs and good rods, there's no telling how much power we can get out of this thing before it dies. My main concern is the crank, which I've heard stories of people breaking (and this is a *forged* crank). Then again, the stock 2.3 cast crank will support 600HP, go figure.

If you go EFI, you can do it pretty cheap if you have the know-how. I'm gonna go MegaSquirt and use a bunch of parts off my 89 Cavalier Z24 parts car. Tip: You can make cheap, effective fuel injector bungs from brass compression fittings. See the articles on the MegaSquirt yahoo forum for pictures.

If you go carb, I think you couldn't go wrong with the HyperPak and a small Demon carb. MM&FF just made over 1000HP on a 302 using a blown-thru Demon and had only good things to say about how easy it was to tune. With Wideband O2 it would be effortless.

350 RWHP will be doable with stock rods, and a few people have done it with turbo or nitrous. With boost and not a lot of RPM (<6000), you can probably go higher HP with stock rods, but this is uncharted territory at this point.
