Anyone know of a suitable replacement radiator for my 63 Valiant slant six? My old on is shot. Or do I have to bite the bullet and have this one re-cored? |

I have one of these in my 64 Valiant. Totally happy with it. Fit perfect. If you have a fan shroud, I don't know if it will fit.https://www.championradiators.com/Dodge ... -1963-1964 |

Well, I got that particular Champion Radiator and it will not work on my car It is too thick, so it does not clear the fan blades. The thickness is about 3 inches, whereas my original is about 2" thick.... Anyone know of a radiator that will fit my slant six engine??? |

I just ordered a Champion for my 68 Dart, and I picked the version that is 1.5" - 1.75" thick at the core for just this reason (fore-aft clearance). I did not look carefully at the 63 Valiant/Dart version, but they may have a thinner version than you bought? FYI... It always pays to look at drawings and specs and do measurements on any custom/aftermarket part, even if it says "it fits this car." Very often, such parts do not, and you need to do custom work to make them fit. In my case, I am spending maybe 3-5 hours fitting my electric fans to this Champion radiator, and I had to drill 1-2 new/different mounting holes to get it to fit/align properly. I just accept this as part of driving and hotrodding an old car, unless you can find (and want to use) true factory parts. One of my favorites stories related to this happened several years ago when I bought a Gear Vendors OD unit (not cheap), and looked at drawings and called them before I bought it. The tech guy swore up and down that it would fit the trans/driveshaft tunnel on my 66 Valiant with "no modifications." Plenty of space, he said. I was suspicious, but knew I could make anything work. Sure enough, it wasn't even close. I had to move the tunnel up and out up to 1.5" over a large region (a foot or more of the tunnel) to get it to fit. Slant on, Lou |

You can make that Radiator work fine by removing the mechanical fan spacer or mill it down to a smaller thickness. Also an electric fan will allow that radiator to york in your car. Greg |
