This is more for the customizers or racers, but may be of general interest.
I went through some of my stash today.
Here are 4 different covers with weights.
I picked up the Aussie-Speed unit to see about a vacuum crankcase option on the "street motor".
However what I don't like is no gasket recess on the gasket flange.
I guess I should run the D.C. cover on the Colt.
Either that or take a huge dump before the race.
Anyway really no difference in the cast covers.

Jeff Kindall, if you see this post, what does your Mopar cast cover weigh?

Huge weight penalty for the style there. :D :D
No one is lookin' under the hood of a fast car anyway..
Unless you have a rail and there's no hood to be found. :D

I have an Offenhauser cover. Out of box it needed some milling because it didnt went to '76 head casting well. As was also warped from new so it was complicated to get sealed. However I found a batch of obsolete Fel-Pro rubber seals from UK. i bought them all. Just 2 of them are enough. One is glued to the Offenhauser cover with RTV (because of the bad cover surface quality - just the sand cast and no more. 2nd gasket I will install to the head which has ARP studs. Pretty easy to set the gasket as there is positive studs. Two stacked rubber seals and it is pretty good so.

The weight is not an issue. One PSI more boost will compensate it.

Yes Boost will solve most issues.
I do not have any of that yet.

I will almost always gladly save 3.5 lbs and have a better working valve cover... Thanks for the data, Stan!

That's a rough life if parts are coming through the valve cover.

:D
