So after doing some work on the ignition it’s time to sort some carb issues. I come here to ask you peeps as all I’ve ever got here is straight to point and spot on info. Yes, Dan, that includes you! Anywho. So noticing some things that I’m not sure about so I’ll explain the best I can. I noticed a lot of play in the accel pump, s link, and pump arm. I’m not sure this is even an issue. I have rebuilt several carbs and have access to some good tech to boot. So, what I notice is that when the pump arm moves, attached to the s link, it takes quite a bit of motion for the accel pump to move. Is that normal? Or is there a way to adjust that “play” out of it? I did read this https://www.carburetor-blog.com/knowledge-base/bbd-pg2/ but there is no mention about the issue I see, if it is even an issue. Edit, 1978 dodge d100 with factory 2 bbl bbd |

I know very little about BBDs but I have some considerable experience with 'flatslide pumper' motorcycle carburetors. In the bike application you don't want the accelerator pump to start squirting until the throttle is around 1/4 open. When you start getting a squirt as soon as soon as the throttle is cracked open you get too much fuel right off idle and the engine will bog. |

white adjustment slot.green s bend bottom is smooth top has retainment shape. Sound like acc pump cup sticking is bore.Accelerator shaft should move instanely no slack no delays. |

@matv91 is the man when it comes to Slant 6 carburetors. Listen to him instead of my unrelated comments. |

If I understand you correctly. When the white moves the green moves at the same time, no slack? Mine has slack and quite a bit. I’ll try to get pics of it tomorrow. Also, can I adjust the slack out of it with the adjusting slots?

When the white moves the green moves at the same time? Yes If the pump plunger is free to move spring force will take up slack. Slot is for height adjustment. |

Green dot control valve stuck under under plastic lifting arm, that will cause trouble maybe broken lifter arm. Black points to s link in correct postion, not up side down |
