63 Valiant; right side latch.... the star wheel just spins, therefore I can't close the door. Here is a pic of a new latch I amc onsidering buying but thought maybe I can fix the one I have?? Maybe something came loose on the inside of the door? thanks |

Those *probably* can be fixed. Most likely a broken spring or latch mechanism. They are stamped together. So you need to cut and grind them apart and probably weld it back up. It would be far easier to get a new unit and replace the unit in the door. |

The '63s might interchange with '60-62 A bodies I think '64-66 was a different design. I might be off here, but if you post a picture of your latch, I can tell you what other years might work. Greg |

No picture shown. I just welded the little star wheel in my 65's latch a couple months back. I would have thought the 63 would have been like the 64 & 65 but I may be totally wrong. |

Yes as I suspected. The same as '62 and probably back to '60 as well. That Latch/ striker assembly was changed for the '64 model year. Greg Greg |
