Been working on slants forever, and just learned something new. Most of the slants I have worked on were/are early ones. I am in the process of "resealing" the engine in my 84 D-100. Just found out it is possible to change the front crank/timing cover seal, without removing the cover. The older covers required the cover be removed and the seal is removed and installed from the inside. On my 84 engine there is no seal seat on the front of the cover.
OK folks, who knows when this change was made.

Any day you don't learn something new, is a day wasted.

I know the timing cover on a 1978 Volare I used to allowed the front crank seal to be removed without removing the whole cover. I think th switch happened in the early-mid 70s.
