g'day mates, Would the '60-'62 R And S series Valiants from Australia have the Chrysler 1"x 23T splines on the the input shaft of their transmissions - same as here in North America? Thank you! Greg |

Yes. Those were American (or Canadian) cars sent to Australia as CKD kits (completely knocked down) for local assembly. Paint-upholstery-trim was local, too. But the mechanicals were North American, with some changes for RH-drive and upgrades for Australian road conditions—such as 14" wheels. |

Interesting question, and thanks for the info, Dan. I believe that there is a 3spd down there from maybe later years that is pretty strong (maybe Borg Warner), and Tilley had some made with straight cut gears for road racing w/o clutch use. You really only ever need 3 gears for road courses anyway. They also used a Borg Warner rear axle, also probably on later VC era cars (or even later?) that was small/light like a 7.25" but stronger. Tilley had (or has?) that in his 10 sec turbo VC Valiant. Just more food for chin scratchin. Lou |

The R/S models were closest to the American cars, but the Australian Valiants grew more and more local with each year, not just in terms of design but also mechanically. |

Thank you for the info!I suspected as much but was not sure when the "local bits" were fitted and where they were fitted. Greg |
