I have a 1983 Dodge d150 with a one barrel slant six. I am doing a lean burn conversion I am going to put a Holley 1945 carburetor back on what years of the 1945 Holley will fit on a 1983 d150 slant 6. They can be quite expensive I'm wondering if a 1975 Holley 1945 will fit on my 1983 can someone tell me what years will fit on the 83/6 thank you so much

The attachment point is going to be different for kick down linkage to carb, 1983 guess used ball socket and older used pin into linkage, make sure the ball will unbolt, not welded looks like uses same hole. will try to find picture. May be just vans. Ok vans are different pick up same as car slantsix.

From what I can tell any 1945 will bolt on where any one barrell will, fuel line placment different.carter bbs and holley 1920. Yes 1975 will bolt on,what number? As for 1945, 1977- 1980 best years many changes. For example venturi shaped changed from round to D shape fror better fuel distribution. Past 1980 no ported vacuum for distributor, manifold vacuum to lean burn.https://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopi ... 6&start=30 bottom of page pictures

Post your carb number , in any event 1974 to 1978 should work. Lean burn started as soon as 79 in some applications calif, Federal still ok no lean burn up to 1980, after 1981 all lean burn? Guess work based on available information.

Get ahold of a factory service manual or 3, specific carb numbers used that year are all listed along with details like hi altitude version, Calif version, 49 state, auto or stick.

I do not have a carb. #The carburetor the guy put on there said he had changed it from the original he put on a Carter one barrel does not work correctly on this car.The carb I'm looking at is a 1945 holley, off a 1975 dodge, what do you think?

That is carb 7357 black line hole to vacuum advance below throttle plate, full time vacuum to distributor not used in conventional set ups.

You have a Carter on the engine right now? I believe the Carter is considered to be a better carb generally if it is a BBS. What is the truck doing, or not doing that you want it to do?

It isn't the brand of the carb, that's the problem. You could get another just like what you have and have completely different results.
In your search if they claim to bead blast it during the rebuild unless they also replate the individual castings RUN!
