Well…h'mm. Long ago, Bob Stepp and Doug Dutra had a running quip in the pages of the Slant-6 News that the mysterious throttle body hole was a secret passageway to China. We see from the link that's not so, but that just means the mysterious hole in the carburetor isn't the secret passageway to China. It doesn't mean this what you're showing us on the bellhousing isn't. How much string can you push into it? Give it a try and see; if you can lose 7,915.5 miles of string in that hole, then pretty good odds…! |

Wormhole. The string will come out the carburetor hole... |

Where's Willem Weertman's little black book of secret throttle passages and bellhousing holes when you need it?? Nah nevermind, I figured it out! It is for the varying torque input encoder and translator balance pole that sends quark inputs to the turbo encubalator. Sorry to have bothered you with such trivial questions. It seems to be an obfuscation hole. |

…then you grab hold of both ends and pull back and forth to remove all traces of plaque before brushing.

I am guessing something during manufacturing, or a part used on a taxi, or industrial application. I don't see them manufacturing the part with an unused hole. |

Extra attachment screw for a non-A-body bellcrank pivot bracket??? No tin/shield that may use it?? Pic of the backside of the bell there?? What thread size?? Damnit, now I'm going to have to look at Mine in the AM.... |

Purely speculation, but was that same bell housing used in Aussie cars? Might it be for something that is down-under-only related? Roger |

Roger Do turbo encabulators spin backwerds in South Africa, Argentina, and Australia and other southern hemisphere places? Maybe the owners of the DeSoto A Bodies know the answer to that one. |

No Turbo Encabulation on the '64 drop-top GT 3-on-the-tree, but that threaded hole is apparently used primarily by Mud Daubers, . I vote for transfer/assembly fixture. |
