Building a 225 Aluminum Block, but do not have an oil pan. Will a pan from a cast iron block work??

Yes, it will, but you need to pay attention to the vehicle it's going into. Not all pans are equal.

Welcome to the site!

Yes, no problem on the oilpan. All Slant 6 oilpans are interchangeable regarding bolting up to any block. You will want to check if you have the right oilpan to fit the car/chassis you are using (Dart, Charger, truck, etc...). What car do you have?

Best,
Lou

OK, 37 Ford. Sounds like a cool project!

You may have to customize an oilpan to fit the chassis, but I would guess that a rear sump Slant 6 truck oilpan might drop in. I have one of these in my 34 Dodge that is unmodified. There is a lot of space under there, so likely any car/truck pan should work.

People have discussed epoxy, but I'm not sure anyone's tried it. I have an Al engine in my 66 Valiant with 9.6:1 CR, medium cam, a good head, and about 200 HP. I got a custom MLS gasket via Ryan Covalt from an outfit in Thailand. Not cheap, but so far so good. One idea is to weld or lightly press dowels around the liners to bridge to the outer block. I have seen this done on open deck Al race engines and plan to try this on my next build.

Happy building,
Lou
