Well, I took the #1 intake valve spring off and gave the valve a feel (remember, the motor with 100 miles on it bent a pushrod last week). Found that I could barely move the #1 intake valve. Pulled the head, and took out the valve. Stem and guide all scored up. Back to the machine shop with my head (and receipt). Not that I'm a pessimist but I know that they'll problably be nasty with me, and not fix the problem. What a sad day. I'm just glad I checked rather than just putting on another pushrod and going again.

Boy...that does suck.
These days it seems like you have to pay thru the nose to get poor workmanship, then get treated like crap when you try to get it fixed right.

When I built my engine, even though the machinist was highly recommended I checked everything he'd done, I even pulled the valves out of the seats and mic'ed the new valve stems and the guide bores.

1 hour of measuring is worth some $$$ and time in my book.
