Need suggestions re: my 1963 Dart, rebuilt 225 with a Holley 1920 Was running great, rolled up to a stop sign and it suddenly started running very bad - gasping and sputtering - and died... restarted and instantly ran great, as if nothing had never happened. My mechanic confirmed the points looked a little crispy so we did a points and condenser swap + tune up, which were overdue. Checked vacuum lines and they look fine. However now it’s still the exact same, runs perfectly then out of the blue it will run very rough and die, but immediately starts right back up. Trying to figure why restarting “resets” whatever is causing it to go momentarily haywire before it goes Ker-Plunk. Thinking the 1bb Holley carb needs a rebuild but perhaps someone smarter than me has a suggestion before I go down the rabbit hole... thanks in advance! |

Check / replace the fuel filter, then the in tank sock filter, It could also be some intermittent electrical gremlin at the firewall bulkhead connections. Good luck, Greg |

Ditto on the bulkhead connector, especially the light blue wire that runs to the ballast for the coil. |
