Post subject:  Duster rear springs pic

I just updated my Duster's rear suspension and figured I'd throw up a picture so others know what kind of ride height the JC Whitney five-leaf HDs give. I also replaced the rear shocks and all bushings (along with painting everything to hopefully cut down on future rust) while things were apart. The springs definitely helped with the cars image :D and the handling seems about the same if not a little better so the front end must not be too high. Of course now the rear tires look too small :D

Is the ground fairly level? The rear looks to be a smidgen higher then the front. I need new leafs as well and was debating between the 4 and 5 leaf JC Whitney springs.

Yes the ground there was level (as far as I could tell). I just went out and measured and from the ground to the bottom of the front bumper is around 13" and from the ground to the bottom of the rear bumper is around 18" so there is about a 5" difference between bumpers but if you measure from right after the rear wheel well it is around 14". Hope that helps and let me know if you need other measurements.

Looks good,

so when you put the 'roadside' tool box, jack and 'emergency kit' in the back does it even out a bit?

I'm hoping that it doesn't sag too much after use though cause I kind of like the stance. For now that is where it sits though, even with junk in the trunk (it's my daily driver until they start throwing around salt). When the picture was taken I had 3/4 tank a gas, toolbox, spare tire, tire iron, box 'o junk (including a couple of spare BBDs from when I was workin out carb issues), the old shocks, master cylinder core, etc, etc.
