Rebuilding the slant six from my 67 barracuda notchback and the seal that came with the kit is too large, I ordered one from rock auto and it is the same size

I having a heck of a time finding anything concrete on what I need for my leaning tower of power

Tried attaching some pictures but they're too large.
Hopefully this reddit link works, I made a post on the mopar subreddit and was reccomended to post here :]

Based on the picture, it looks like the old seal is still in the timing cover, at least the outer shell.

The seals are an interference fit.
Knock out the old one. Then use a proper sized diameter socket / bit of exhaust pipe etc to squarely knock in the new one.

These have different seals. For the old model the seal is inside of cover. For the new version the seal can be pressed in from outside.

If I remember correctly the seals are the same. The difference is the timing cover. The early cover must be removed from the engine, and the seal replaced from the inside of the cover. The later cover does not need to be removed from the engine, and the seal is replaced from the outside.
