what kind of gas miliage does a well tuned super sixed slant get? and what kind of rebuild kit is best for the carter bbd on a super six?

I converted my Duster to a super six setup this summer and the best I have gotten is around 26 mostly highway and around 20 mostly town although I have gotten worse when I drive it like I hate it!  That's with an auto and 2.76s. If going with the super six I would recommend upgrading your exhaust to at least 2" (I went with 2 1/4"). I did some junkyarding for BBDs so it took me a couple to get one I liked and didn't have a worn throttle shaft. The one I ended up with is off of a 318 (with the choke linkage from a six). As far as a rebuild kit, I just got one from the local parts place (I believe it was Hygrade though) which seemed fine. Make sure you get the good carb cleaner (like the Napa stuff which I believe is Macs) and not the stuff in spray cans. It's well worth it and makes the outside look a lot better so imagine what the inside looks like! |
