Just got back from a Mopar swap meet. Scored at slant six 727 lock up trans. Was not aware these even existed. I knew about the /6 727 but never heard of one in a LU configuration.
Looks like this type trans was available in Dodge trucks from 1979 to 1985 long extension and some 4 wd. The numbers on mine list for a 1979/ 225/727 long extension/ LU.
EDIT: PK 4058311 6418 7474

Very interesting. I have owned and wrenched on a slew of late 70s to mid 80s Dodge vans and trucks and I have never seen a lockup 727 behind an 80s era slant. My 76 D100 has a non-lockup 727 from the factory, but all the other trucks and vans I have seen and checked were 904 variants. A lockup 727 must have been in a 3/4 or 1 ton application, or a 4x4.

No, my 85 D150 was a late model year build, and the numbers on the side come back to June 85 which matches the build month/year on the door jamb. And strangely mine is the lightest GVW of them all... 4800lb. My hood is off and kinda inaccessible right now but if I remember correctly the option sticker was quite faded... I do have the original window sticker for it somewhere...
I really don't care because it's a /6 D150 not a 340 demon or hemi car. . It will still be a/6 truck but no longer original when I'm done playing with it... But just to say "they're out there".
I've posted the PK number before, cliffs notes version said it was 81-85 /6 727 lockup .. the 4 digit code for the date says it's "right".
Originally I was gonna leave it alone. (still might after I fix the shift shaft seal leak) and I even bought a fresh converter for it when I swapped engines because of a bad ring gear) shifted fine (lockup didn't work though)
But I've tripped on 833 OD conversion parts, also a 91 Dakota A500 and the 60s /6 to v8 trans adapter id need to put THAT in.... Decisions decisions. I'm stumped on which way to go...
That said if I stay with the original trans my son wants the a 500 and I have a place for the 833 OD.... But if I swap the trans the /6 727 lockup could be up for grabs...if I don't gut it and use the innards in another trans....
I was actually quite surprised to find that trans in that truck when I got it...

I've had a couple of them. Ended up giving them away.
