Post subject:  Vacuum advance cans - part numbers vs. advance level?

Dear Slant Six Sages,

I am looking for vac advance cans with more than 8.5 deg of advance built into them. I am out of the higher advance ones. IIRC, there are 9, 10.5, and 11.5 advances available? I seem to recall a useful but maybe old thread on here about cans, but cannot find it.

Looking at pictures rockauto.com, I only see 6.5 and 8.5 cans available, but tons of different part numbers. I think some of the pics may be wrongly showing 8.5 when those parts have higher advance numbers.

Questions:
1) Are Slant 6 and V8 cans the same (from 60s-early 80s)
2) Does anyone have a chart (or any info) listing part numbers vs. advance degrees? Standard Ignition is the main supplier but there are others too.
3) Best source(s) for cans?

Thanks!
Lou

I used this one on a few recent builds. It was adjustable.

Halifax shops comes to Carlisle and is only about ~45 Min Up the Susquehanna River from Carlisle.
I have not yet bought anything from him but he has a lot of distributor parts and such.

Yeah, it's very common for one product pic to be used for a bunch of different variants. You can't go by pics.

Pre-'72 \6 and small-block V8 cans (for single-point, Chrysler-built distributors) are dimensionally the same. Same goes for '72-up.

The old-parts outfits. Old Car Parts Northwest and the others who advertise in Hemmings, on eBay, etc.

Look on eBay. Lots of Borg Warner, kem, Niehoff, Sorensen etc available. The good old stuff from back when they were still who they said they were before everyone bought each other out
