Dear Slanters,

Greg O. and I will be at Chryslers at Carlisle July 11-13. I'll be running the AutoX on Friday the 11th with the 62 Valiant and will have it in the show otherwise. Should be a fun time. Anyone else coming?

Join us!

Rick has to get parts at the swap meet for a nickel now.
Soon he will not be able to buy parts for 5 pennies because they will soon be discontinued. :D

See you there.

I have free parts for at least Greg and Andrew! Trying to lighten up my garage so it'll go faster...

Lou, Greg, and Rick,

I will be selling parts in the swap meet, space O-203. East corner of row O.
I usually see Rick and gang.

Anyone getting together for dinner?

Lou, what is your schedule for AutoX on Friday?

John
The AutoX is Friday night.
The Schedule tends to be pretty loose until the Event Guide comes out.
I would guess Friday from ~2PM - 8PM we will be AutoX on the "Track" area near the interstate.
Probably about 50 rows north of your swap location.

Lou and I both Plan to run it.

I won't be able to make Carlisle with the racing event going on this weekend. I would like to find another motor and trans to fix up to swap with the current one in the car. Hoping to find something local and cheap.

Let me know if any of you come out to do some drag racing at the nostalgia event on Sunday at South Mountain. My friend Brian will be up from Tennessee with his slant six powered hot rod as well. Hoping the weather forecast clears up for everything.

Gene, Where do you find the rules or qualifications to run in the vintage drags that you do?

I wonder if a highly modified 62 Valiant could run nostalgia event?

Dinner Sat night maybe?

Rick and Lou,

They are running several other classes including S/Pro, Pro, Sportsman, Trophy, Juniors, Jr/Street, Street to Strip and MANDRA (Mid Atlantic Nostalgia Drag Racing Assoc.) so i'm sure there is one you all would fit in. With the vintage eliminators it's all older 1930-40s open wheel cars and old drag cars so I don't think you could run in that class. Normally they don't allow ohv engines but made an exception for the slant six since the rest of the car fits the class. I would reach out to South Mountain ASAP to see which class would be best. They have a contact form on the bottom of their site herehttps://www.southmountainraceway.com/event/drag-racers-reunion/ They also have a phone number, 717-323-0210. Mike Natoli is the owner of the track and has been great to work with so I don't see why you guys couldn't race this coming Sunday.

Not sure now what I will be doing Friday. My wife's Stepfather passed away last night and we have the funeral Friday at 11:00. I may go to the funeral and come directly to Carlisle. I want to see Lou and Greg run the autocross and I need to pick up some parts from A&A transmissons.

I won't be running the drags, but that is a whole lot of classes !

Rick, best wishes for family / funeral time.
We will be happy to see you guys at the show whenever you can make it. The slanted cars will be running the Auto X.
The Schedule says open AutoX Friday from 11-2. Shootout at Friday @ 5PM and Open AutoX again on Sat. 11-2.

I talked to Ryan today. I will stop out sometime Thursday at the shop and get some parts as well as stop by for a bit.

See you soon!

Warm wishes to Patti, Rick, and the whole family regarding the loss of her stepfather. I hope you take the time to reminisce and find meaning together. We'll hope to see you sometime Friday if that works out.

I plan to leave Blacksburg midday Thurs and, if time, meet you all at Ryan's or at a Covalt Clan Compound. Otherwise, I'll see Greg at Carlisle or at the campsite later.

Plan to finish welding the sway bar mounts and paint everything today. Got the mounts all tacked in and 1/3 of total seams welded now.

Arrived at Colonel Denning SP this morning, setup camp, Ten visited Rick and Ryan in Quincy, swapped parts and stories over lunch. Headed to carlisle for a bit, then picked up groceries, went back to camp swapped on Enkei's with sticky tires, dropped rear ride height, added ~ -2.0⁰ of front camber at the campground garage. Awesome so far looking forward to AutoX tomorrow.
