Looks like I might be getting (a little) involved in this project. Owner had the engine pulled (225 slant six) to be rebuilt. Without getting into a long story, the engine and many parts dissappeared. The van owner has an auto upolstry/trim shop and I need some interior work done on my cars. So we are talking about some trade off. I was worried about the external engine parts not being available. Took another look at the van, today, and located the slant six adaper plate for a PB 727 V-8 trans, and the engine mount brackets, in the back of the van. The oil pan is missing, along with the oil pickup tube, but I should have one that will work, along with a proper dipstick and tube. Wish me luck.

Looks Like a worthy vehicle for you to get involved with.

Good luck!

Pretty cool!
Not for me, but to each his own, right?

I don't have the time to build the engine for him. I'm just going to help him out with parts and a "core" engine. Still need to find out what oil pan to use. Does anyone know what pan was used on a 1974 D-200 PU with a slant six?

I do!

Same oil pan, oil pickup, and engine mounts were used in D trucks and B vans from 1971-1987.

I watched that video. Looks like that oil pan is blue, so not original 1964 pan, and it looks like a standard passenger car pan from the brief time it can be seen in the video. It looks like that van has the clearance to run just about any oil pan the owner wants.

Thanks for your thoughts.
That's what I thought, also. Luckily the slant six to SB 727 adapter and engine mount brackets are still there. Everything else I should have.

If you get desperate, I do have a spare truck/van oil pan and pickup I could be persuaded to part with, but shipping would be pricey from WA State.

Thanks for the offer, but I should have what is needed. I have a couple of rear sump truck pans and pickup, and several different center sump pans. I just don't have a front sump pan.
