This winter I have some work to be done; among other jobs on the car, I wanted to get the dashboard lights working again.
As we speak, only the red 'oil' light works and the green indicators. Also the small light indicating i have high beams on works.
There is no light on the speedometer, fuel gage etc, nor does the light underneath the dashboard (floorlight) work when the doors open.

No I have tested all the light bulbs and replacing where neccessary. The backside of the instrument cluster, I measured if it was a closed circuit (ohm) and found out there is no breakeage in the circuit board.
Now since only 4 lights work, I wonder, is the floorlight, and the speedometer light and the other gauge lights connected to a different circuit as the oil-light and indicators?

the one inside the red circle work, the ones with arrows don't.

With the headlamps on all illumination bulbs should light. Indicators bulbs should come on with their related system in use (highbeams/blinkers).

You can see the actual traces on the board very clearly. Use your meter and verify you have intact power flow paths from the pin that supplies power all the way to the bulb, and from the bulb to the pin that supplies the ground. A small amount of corrosion can cause fun issues. I remember seeing broken pins on some old clusters that would be intermittent.

You are lucky with the fact that the old circuit boards have huge traces with plenty of room to repair or add traces as necessary to repair them. If a trace is burned out you can add a wire to bypass that section, or just use wired bulb holders twisted into the correct location. If you are creative enough you can add a complete standalone rats nest of wires to run all illumination bulbs and bypass all of the traces(I would only do this with a totally trashed circuit board).

I remember that the last time I messed with my panel lights I removed all the nuts and cleaned the traces under them, adding some dielectric silicone, and some nice copper washers. Don't know if it helped but the nuts did clamp down on a contact patch so I figured it wouldn't hurt.

Check the dash illumination circuit on the head light switch. Souds like it the head light sw might be bad. Also check for a blown fuse for that circuit. Down load the 65 plymouth service manual from this site. It will give you the wireing diagrams, which should be very close to your 64 Dart.

I've got some strange wiring going on.

I replaced all the bulbs and with exactly the same result... only the red light indicating the high beams are on... is now also not working
The interior light is working (below the dash) but it is also working when the doors are closed, but i suspect the doorswitch because somtimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't when I figgle with the switch.

but now the odd thing.
I figured out, there is also a light behind the pushbuttons. So I replaced that one. Nothing else... but now something else.
The light behind the pushbuttons is pulsating when the key is in 'ignition'. Furthermore the indicator light to the right suddenly doesn't work anymore, and the indicator to the left... is the light behind the pushbuttons.

It could be anyone's guess saying it is the ground wire that isn't good, or could this be a faulthy lightswitch? Would any replacement function?

like this one from germany: https://www.moparshop.com/Lichtschalter ... ele-Mopars

Edit: i just noticed, the top pin on the switch (top right in picture) isn't solid but can move around a little bit. I think it connects with the yellow wire... did I just answer my own question? (questionmark)

Please replace the headlight switch before you do anything else. That one from Germany looks correct.

done deal; arrived one day after ordering from Germany. Suddenly the indicators on the dash worked fine again. AND I found out that there is a dimmer! Never knew...

but... the lights at the speedometer, the temperature, fuel-meter etc still don't work. Where do these get the 12V from? I know the oil-light and indicators seem to get it from the thick blue wire from the ignistion switch to the printed circuit connector. But that doesn't seem to reach the other lights.
I've tried to work out all the wiring but I got stuck and need some help.

Questions are at the pictures.
- I have no idea what the white wires are underneath the pushbutton; one goes to the windshieldwiper switch, the other?
- the orange wire from the pushbuttons, what does it do?
- what does the black wire from the fuzebox do? and the 2nd orange one?

Thanks in advance,

File comment: and on the fusebox there is also a black line, cut through. what does this do?

File comment: The orange one, that comes from the pushbutton control ends up at the first fuze. The other orange on that same fuse is cut through... Que?

File comment: these white wires; the connection seems shabby. One goes to the windshield wiper switch. The other one goes into the spaghetti but I lost where it goes

File comment: from behind the pushbutton there's an orange wire. Someone ones put a red wire in between (maybe cut through?) What does this one do?
