I've always been terrible at assembling this part, which is why the Race Dart has spent much of its life without a functional parking brake. The fact that it's been a few years since the last time I did this isn't exactly helping.

What is this little spring/clip wire supposed to look like when properly installed? I feel like the wire is sticking through too far in these pictures, but if I back it off so only the last little elbow is sticking through, then the adapter is barely held onto the parking lever in the trans.

Can I just bend the end of the wire more to secure it? I wouldn't think it matters too much, as long as the adapter stays in place when the cable moves in and out.
