Post subject:  Differences in Rocker Assemblies

I'm getting my engine together. The rebuilt head I have is a 2843169. It didn't have a rocker assembly when I got it. My 2 spare parts motors are later "Peanot" heads. I pulled the rocker assembly and I realized that the oiling bolt is different. the newer one has the stepped smaller thread bolt.

1. Can I just put in the older style bolt and more on?
2. Does anyone have a bolt I could buy/trade
3. Are there any other differences that I'm not seeing?
4. anyone have the proper assembly I could buy/trade?

I will share this thread. It talks about the differences in the rearmost rocker arm shaft bolt and the interchangeability thereof.

I did read all of that. Still, the rocker assembly I took off of a later head had the stepped bolt but NOT the 2 different size holes. It also had adjustable rockers that looked like they'd never been adjusted. (What I would expect). It was symmetrical except for the oiling hole. There's a slot inside the rocker that lines up with the hole so it always gets oil. That's the best way to be sure. Lots of interesting combinations came off the MOPAR assembly lines. The only question now is why is there one asymmetrical hold down washer on the newer head.

If the shaft has the 2 same size holes use a 3/8" bolt and call it a day Mike.

Dennis has got it. If end hole is same on both ends of shaft, you are good to use a regular 3/8" bolt.
