Go with stock unless you plan on towing or hauling bricks or if your going for the speed racer stance . Over leafing leads to a stiff/harsh ride and tire bounce, I run stock 5 leaf with rear coilovers and have quite a bit of tail in the air. Just my 3 cents..Dave |

This is how my Duster looks with the 5 leafs (and normal gas shocks). It sits higher (which I like) but the change didn't seem to change handling that much and I don't think it is too stiff. http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6781 |

Dude, How are the jcwhitney springs coupled together? If I get the 5leaf ones and they are too much, would it be easy to remove a leaf and reassemble them all back together? |

Has anyone removed a leaf from a spring before? I'm assuming you have to remove a leaf from the middle because the very bottom leaf has the little bump on it that sits in the spring perch and the top leaf has the bushing eyes. |

Never removed one. Saw a picture of the GT with a 2 inch lift in the back (extended shackles) taken in 64 and ride height was 15 inch. off the ground with these installed, cool look! Asked the original owner how it handled with the torsion bars cranked all the way up. His reply "didn't have that front end float it has now". Curious indeed....Dave |

Actually the smallaest leaf is furthest away from the axle because the springs are under the rear. the little bump is actually a bolt that holds the spring pack together. the tabs keep the leaves paralell to each other. If you want lift use 5 or 6 leaf springs if you want a softer ride use 4 leaves. removing a leaf is a simple as removing the spring and removing the bolt and bolting it back together. |

Ahh thats right I forgot the axle was above the springs on cars. Its not that I purposely want a soft ride, I just want stock height and I wasn't sure if the 4 leaf would be too low. Thats why I figured I'd get the 5leaf and remove one if it was too much. No one has tried the 4 leaf JCWhitney units? |
