Post subject:  Caliper bolts ( for Kelsey Hayes 4 piston)
Hi all,

I need to order 4 new caliper bolts for my 4 piston Kelsey Hayes calipers.

I mean the ones that attacht the caliper to the bracket. 2 per side.

Does anyone know if I need special ones? Maybe hardened???

Where can I order these? I'm not in the opportunity right now to get one from my car ( too far away from my car :cry: ), besides that the ones on my car are a bit too short in my opinion.

Can anyone help my my telling me what size bolt to get?

I don't know the size, but I think they are just GR8 Allen bolts.

By the way, I live in The Netherlands, so I can't just buy them in a local hardware store,.. we use metric, not the inch size,... For this reason I cannot just buy some over here and try them, I need the exact size and order it in the US ( or maybe in GB?).

If you feel adventerous you could re-tap the spindle for a metric bolt and use one thats availible locally. IIRC, only the spindles are threaded not the hole in the caliper itself.

When I found a KH setup in the junkyard I made sure to also get the hardware ;)

If I remember right, these are special shoulder type bolts.
There is about 1/2 inch of unthreaded shank under the bolt head that locates / positions the caliper.

I would need to pull one out in order to get all the exact measurments.

Ah you are right Doc they are shoulderd, I just looked at mine today but forgot to get measurments. If you are going to tap the spindle with a metric tap, you may be able to get an extra long bolt with lots of shoulder on them then just case them with a die to get as much thread on them as you need.

oops and I think they have an unthreded tip to help them start too.

But I just used hardwarestore bolts to replace the 2 I lost and had a proper one and a store one on each side. getting the store ones started was a pain. If I were you, I would make my own, or have a good friend (cheap seller ) send me some from the states.
If you make your own, make sure they are not too long or they will hit the disk. make sure they are not too short or they will rip out. Guage the size with a smaller bolt. you can do this off the car.

You will love them.
