Lou proposed the random pairing of racers. Do you think this would be better than the no box/box seperation? Please vote. Tom |

What I would mainly like to see is consistency. If you want random pairings, do it everywhere, or a ladder, or whatever. It was always fun to pull into staging paired on a ladder only to find out that the track decided they would pair whoever they wanted. It's also a lot of fun to get "duck hunted" at the tracks that decide you will run whoever you're next to.  I'm down with random pairings though.

To my knowledge all /6 races this year were done on a ladder. Is this not the case? Tom |

I can see doing random pairings for the first round, there is time to draw the numbers. After the first round it becomes more difficult, that is where the ladder is helpful, you don't have to do the draw, you just have to find-out who you are matched-up with. So, we can give the tower the first round pairings and then just let the track run it from there. (based on what the computer spits-out) I think it is easy for the track if the computer does all the "thinking", that would be a ladder based on qualifing times, "fast vs fast" or "fast 1/2 vs slow 1/2" pairings of the field. No matter what we do we have to be organized and good to the track workers, they don't have the time or patience to deal with a lot of special BS. DD |

Doug, Why does the track need to do anything about pairings? After the 1st round, we never have more than about 12-14 cars, and picking randomly takes only a minute or two. Then we just pull into the lanes as usual with our drawn opponent. I would happily volunteer to draw chips and run pairings for every round of the races I'm at. In many of the races I've been to, I didn't know that the track had anything to do with the ladder. Seems like Kay H or Seymour or someone else has just done the ladder and doled out pairings. I guess running the ladder when you get to the semis seems like a good break point to me. Lou |

Lou, This really depends on the track and if they "key-in" the car numbers into their computer to create a ladder. If the track does not do this, we can just pair the cars any way we want, If the track tower does do this, they want to pair the car the way the computer expects to see them. Either way works but it is nice when you can get all the computer generated run sheets at the end of the day, that saves some writing. The computer will allow for random pairings also so it is our choice but the key is to let the track know what we are doing. DD |

This is a tough call when you have four types of cars competing and every wants to win. You have your all out race car with transbrake and delay box, Your fast footbrake race cars with no electronics, You have your street/strip car and the pure street car. What is best, for everybody.This year we went to six events and all of them was laddered As a slow footbrake race car i got tired of racing Charles Myers.Dale Rose , Ron Hamby and others in the first round. I thought my chances were better with a faster car so i went in that direction. I know that i can get beat bye anybody at anytime, but it hard to get a street car consistant like a race car and that gives us an edge.I know Bagel will say im crying but im not hell i dont care who i race just call the cars up to the line and give them two mintues to do it if you don.t pull up you don't race. I knew that is what you would say. But it aint slow anymore. We are going after the b/gas national record next year at Columbus. We went 12.91 at Clay City and have picked the car up more than 3/10 in the 1/8 since then. That record is 12.76 and I could break that today. And that is on 93 octane fuel. So Mr Bagel the price of you beating me is getting serious Build and bring what you run and hope you brung enuff. Ps how is the back Your racing redneck Possum gone bagel bagging back in 12.50 seconds for real |
