Lou and Doc. Have either one of you read the article on BBD.com about the differences between A and B body disc spindles? The author is claiming that the differences are minor, and the setup from a B-body can be swapped to an A-body without handling penalties. One still needs the late model UCA's from an A-body, but otherwise all is good. Care to share opinions? If this is true, it opens up a few donor cars for my swap. Roger |

From earlier posts by Bill, I believe the FJM knuckles looked just fine to swap onto A-bods, and I will likely try this. I don't remember seeing B body parts mentioned, but I'll check it out. Lou |

I think Bill has lumped the B (post '72) spindles in with the FMJ spindles. At least that is how I read the articule. I has always been my understanding that '73-'76 A spindle, '70-'74 E spindle and the '66-72' B spindle were all the same. The same with the UCAs. |

Kesteb I think you have the spindle interchange spot-on. This article confirms it as well http://www.moparaction.com/Tech/archive/disc-main.html |

He says that '73-up B,F,J,M spindles are the same. I don't know anything about '66-72 Bs, and don't remember those being the same as '73-up A spindles, but you could be right Kesteb. Seems like the Aspen/Volare/Dippy spindles would be easiest to find. You still need '73-up A-body UCAs, or aftermarket replacements. Lou |

Single piston calipers seem to be the hot ticket. I just recently went to sbp 4piston calipers, but I have been checking out prices for single piston calipers. I can't believe it! $10 a rebuilt caliper. And readily availible rotors, hmm. I wanted to stick with sbp so I held out untill I found a sbp setup, but now I am starting to have some regrets. It almost seems as if it would be cheaper (or at least roughly the same) to buy bbp wheels and pay to have your tires swapped over to them due to the difference in price of parts. |

Bill says they are not the same, but that the difference is better. If my understanding is correct, the B body and FMJ spindles seperate the upper and lower ball joints more than the A body spindles do. Bill claims this is BETTER for handling and not worse. I certainly do not understand the complex relationship between upper and lower ball joints as the supension travels, but I would give his comments a lot of credibility. If I needed a pair of spindles for an A body car, I would be more than willing to give his adea a try. |

The interesting thing about the pre '73 B spindles is that you could put a set of 11x3" or even the standard 10x2.5" drums on the front of your A-body. It would be better then anything the factor offered, drum brake wise. |

There was a really good thread on this going on over at Moparts a couple days ago. I found it very informative until the resident know-it-all got it locked. |

Slantzilla I think I know which thread your talking about. I think thats the same thread that someone had posted to where MPbrakes admitted the spindles they are selling were just F-body units |

I hope no one bought those spindles from MP and payed $400/pr for f body units! |
