I've been poking around a bit and have sen a lot of neat things. the only problem is i can't seem to find anything related to the slant six in my truck. perhaps someone can point me in the right direction on how a performance build could be done.

Thanks

On the front page, click on the articles tab, there's enough info to keep your head swimmin' for a week.

Some more info on your truck would be nice (year, 1 barrel, 2 barrel, auto, manual, rear gear ratio).

How much performance are you looking at getting?

Bruce Johnson has a great 'performance setup' depending on how for your budget and willingness to go is.

As far as I know, it's stock-as is from factory. It's a '84 with 3sp w/OD. I'm usually a Ford person, but this was my first truck and i would like to rebuild her.

I'm not really lookin' to race the thing. just a nice running engine, enough HP to pull a decent load, and enough getup-and-go to pass the Ricers who think they have something on me :D

Any Clues?

The performance up-grades done for the car work just as good on the trucks.
Take a look at the Hot Rod magazine "Slantsickness" build-up for some general ideas.
Basically it's cam, more carberation, some head porting and free flowing exhaust to make a SL6 come alive.

Guester for now, Do you have to pass local compliaces for registration? notice I diden't say emission standards, cause we can help you build an engine that burns most all of its gas and runs as clean as whats currently out there but in many places that year truck needs to have all its original bells and whistles to get a plate.Second of all it costs the same to re build a cast crank engine as an earlyer forged crank one, and third do you want to haul trailers or keep up with the hondas, my guess is the second, then you ditch the heavy fly wheel, clutch and tranny and go for the auto stuff. Fourth, you got to look for ways to loose weight,I just ditched the bench seat for some summit raceing plastic buckets, having a six up front is a good start, work on the ballance between front and rear, move the battery back, the hood can be replaced with a fiberglass one, I plan to make a carbon fiber replacement of my front bumper. The nice thing about your truck is you all ready have big front disk brakes, front sway bar and wheel wells that can tuck in 10" rims easy so you will have a blast in the twistys, some advice tho, ignore the stop light fart can idiots respect will come naturaly with out risk with enough time spent. Revue past posts and let me know if you have any questions or comments. Bruce Johnson
