Post subject:  Can't figure out heater core removal

Hi, 2nd post on this topic, but I have never really seen a heater core quite like this one. I am trying to replace my leaky core in a '75 Dart Sport. I have a Chilton's manual but they explain it in a way that does not match my car. I have disconnected the hoses from the inside wall. Took out my glove box and have been separating the clips that hold the box together in order to get to the core. All electrical connections and cables have been disconnected. I can't get the heater box to budge and don't see anything holding it in.????
Does anyone know an easier way to get the core out???

Are there screws put in from the firewall side that hold the blower motor and conseqently the box to the car? those, along with the cables, once removed should free the box.

You should take out the entire heater box, and work on it at your work bench. You've done the hoses, just remove the support rod in the vent area and the 4 nuts in the engine bay around the heater-blower motor, and pull out the heater box. You will want to get rid of the 10 lbs of leaves and twigs anyway!
The November 2003 issue of Mopar Muscle has a really nice article on doing a complete refurb of the heater.
