Trying to replace the elec ign. modul on my 73 Dart Swinger and the auto parts stores --- even the Blessed NAPA --- keep handing me this bigger unit with a 4 or 5 pin connector instead of the 2-pin I have. What are the magic words needed to get the old 2-pin module with mounting flanges on the side, not top and bottom? thanks |

Are you confusing the electronic voltage regulator mounted on the firewall with the electronic ignition control module which is usually on the fender? Cecil |

The ECU does have 4 - 5 pins. I am not sure what you are trying to replace. |

You need a voltage regulator, not the ecu. |

right: first lesson, make sure that you've found the real ignition module, which does indeed have five pins and not what you thought was the ign module but is actually the voltage reg, which has 2 pins. 2.) think before you post. 3.) Oh, well...at least I can adjust the desmodromic valves on a Ducati 4.) I'm goin' for a beer. Anybody else? 5.) Thanks. |

That isn't as bad as my brother-in-law who went to the auto parts store to get a new alternator and took his core along for exchange. Guy asked him if he really wanted an alternator or if he wanted a starter like his core! My brother-in-law actually pulled off the starter thinking it was the alternator! That little job ended up taking him most of the day by the time he got the starter back on there and the real alternator removed and replaced. |

Hope your bro-in-law replaced his 710 cap as well. I hear they wear out after a certain amount of time. He may be a step up from my bro-in-law, though. He wouldn't know a wrench from a tape measure. Only thing you'll catch him handling is a beercan or a golf club. as ever, Joe |
