Just had a near miss today Went out during lunch cause it was sunny and put in a few swings with a 3 lbs. hammer to tuck in the corner of the rear roll pan that was tweeked out ( this is my74 Gremlin My trucks adopted little brother) anyway, job done, then I noticed a couple of drops coming from the front center of the gas tank, must be water, it's been raining like crazy, but I went back and checked, it was gas I thought rust and I rubbed the spot it was coming from and a steady 3/16" stream came forth I grabed a old milk jug and caught most of the 5 gallons that was in the tank then when I looked at the hole it wasn't rust but someone had drilled a hole in the tank and patched it with some gook, the car I just bought two weeks ago the owner said it had been sitting 12 years the fuel filter was new. bottom line if a guy needs to cleanout or drain a tank get off your lazy ass and drop the tank! Just yesterday I drove the car into the cabinet shop I work at , turned on the gas furnaces and left for the flea market while the shop and car warmed up, would have been real warm with 5 gallons of gasoline on the floor. now I got to drop the tank weld it full of water and dry ice or buy a fuel cell bummer, still I feel lucky I'm not dead or looking for a new place to work.
