Along the lines of the old school street rods, does anyone have any experience with shaved drip rails? I'd love to shave my 66 dart 2dr. post, but since it's a daily driver up here in the drippy NW, I'm wondering how the door weatherstripping will hold up to the increased weather exposure. Thoughts? |

This can be done but I think it looks better on a older car such as a 52 chev or ford full custom and your right in that the drip rail is called a drip rail for a reason as it provides a small "awning" over the windows. Also remember that the drip rail provdes a ledge to attach the roof skin so if you do decide to remove them you need to weld the seam above the doors. Now with all that said,Idid see a mid sixtys ford falcon 2 door sedan that had this treatment and it looked fairly trick.Just make sure your weatherstrips are sealing. Hope this helps. HyperValiant |

I did this to my 87Ram, they're the #1 leading cause for rust on those trucks, never had a problem with water or anything. it really cleans the roof of the vehicle up nice Justin |
