have a 69 Dart, light green body color, medium green vinyl top.Want to respray top. Like most of you I'm not a resto freak and don't have a broadcast sheet, but is the vinyl paint coded on the fender tag? Where would I find ext. vinyl paint info (don't say Year One -don't have). Any code info would be appreciated- can't be more than 1 or 2 69 green vinyl top shades? Also, local car parts stores I've visited (Pep Boys etc.) don't have green vinyl respray cans - unpopular color. |

Any auto paint store can color match your color and mix it. All you need to do is buy the appopriate cleaners and additives to use the paint on Vinyl. Just tell them what you want it for and they can help select what you need. Remember, the worst contamination you can have for paint is silicone and it's present in virtually every vinyl top treatment on the market. What I'm saying is be prepared to clean, clean, clean and then clean some more. To be honest with you, at the current price of paint and quality cleaners and the work involved, it would be cheaper to have a new top installed and you would be much happier with the results. |
