Anyone know what gauge it is? (14, 16, 20 etc.) 69 dart with fusible link from main battery feed to bulkhead connector on firewall. As usual, no hints from the Haynes book.

According to Madelectrical.com, you go 4 Sizes smaller then the size of the wire you are using.

Example, if you are using 10 AWG Wire as the primary, then you would use a 14 AWG fusible link, this create the bottlenecking effect that the Link needs to protect.

Just replaced the one on my 69 Polara, this weekend. Factory service manual, calls for a 16 gauge, for that car. I think it would be the same for the Dart.

Thanks guys!

I had a handful of fusible links I cut out of a Ford harness. They even have the gauge number embossed on their rubber tags. Not sure if it refers to the gauge of the link, or the wire it's protecting, but I'll take a closer look and figure out which makes more sense.

Cheers
