the vinyl top on my car is ripping, so im removing it. ive read previous posts on how to remove the front and back window trim, and got through that OK, but my problem is, the side trim thats above the side windows. the vinyl top goes down under that, so i need to remove it. how do i go about removing it? that trim is a huge pain, and i cant figure it out. any ideas? |

Here is the way i did it on my 60Val last week and the way i have done on any other car that ive removed the drip rail moulding from. First find an old style bottle opener likr the ones used on glass soda bottles and a thin paint paddle then place the the paddle on the moulding and use the bottle opener to catch the bottom of the moulding and pull up but be gentle.the paddle is to keep from dinging the outside of the trim. Hope this helps. HyperVal |

I use a small straight screwdriver, and a putty knife. First pop off the clip where the two pieces meet, then start at one end and pry out a little bit at a time. (I had better luck at not bending the top side) Don't pull it all the way out at first. If your prying moves it a LITTLE bit, just scoot down and try to move the next part that much. After a foot or two, go back and try to move the first part a little further out. Once you have room behind it, try getting a small putty knife behind the trim and slide it along slowly, wiggling it to gently pull it out. If you work to fast and try to get to much progress at one time, it'll kink and be hard to put back on. Don't ask how I know... Hope that helps. -zorg |
