Hey Dennis here is a set of rules for your proposed street class shootout. This would also mean that some of you guys could enter this race and fit within the rules. Maybe even get Steve M. from Hot Rod to do a small write-up on the fastest slant 6 car.
Using these rules would make it simple and fair.

no turbos or superchargers is a drawback but the rest of the rules look good to me could always allow them in slant races how many cars out there now would fit

maybe you southern boys need to buy a dictionary made with the last 40 years

www.dictionary.com if you are "puter litrate"

I definetly think both should be allowed in whatever street class is run. This just looked liked a very good set of rules that could form the basics for a street car shootout that so many slant 6 guys had expressed interest in. If someone fielded a NOS car then it would be eligible for the Hot Rod race. You have to send in an entry and be selected but I think a very fast slant car might get some attention.

Just my .02.

Tom,

That sounds like a very fun race. Wanna drop the Simca motor into my Valiant and give 'er a go? Seems like 10s would be no problem... :o  It seems really weird that they would allow N20 but no supers/turbos. :?

Lou

I guess in an effort to keep cost down. They make mention of how NMCA classes got out of hand. Maybe they think by not including them it will keep people from spending loads of cash.

Or maybe they dont want the Camaro's to get out run by the talon they featured in the same issue. 8.71@166 33# of boost and NOS. 122ci, weighs 2615# and drives it to work.

Makes 10# of boost seem like nothing!

PS Simca's motor is out......HHMMM 8) !

Guest us Southern boys may not have up to date dictonarys but we have up to date race cars. So see what your dictionary says about a Slanted Attitude. PS it aint hard to find Possum Parker if you want a piece of me. Run what you brung and hope you brung enuff. Let me know we will be at least seven races next year so you just come Possum Hunting. But i will bet you cannot get your Possum Hunter started next year.

I just reread the rules. Didn't see anything about not allowing turbos, or superchargers. Just cant run any fuel other than their supplied 93 octane gasoline. PS nitrous is not a fuel, it is an oxidiser(sp).

Thanks Tom, but I will be having way less rules than that. I'm still pretty well convinced that the drive into Winchester and back will weed out the "wannabe" street cars. I have been talking to Doug and Seymour, and they have both talked to the promoter at Clay City. The street shootout will be a go if anyone shows up.

The original rules that were circulating on their message board a while back said normally aspirated. Looks like they decided to backup on that. The rules posted definetly do not include those words any more.

It should be interesting to see who they pick.

Tom

Dennis - My guess is you will have few slanters interested in this race.
