Detained some scumbag last night as he was prying my DART emblems off the quarter panel, in the process this a-hole managed to snap off most of the mounting pegs. Any advice on how to repair?

Not sure how you would fix them but maybe some double side tape for body mouldings to stick them on? Year One has lots of emblems if you end up having to replace them. I can't remember specific prices but I don't think they were too unreasonable.

Come to think of it, I think I have a couple of these, how much $$ do you want to "pry" out of him?

I have also seen these emblems glued-on successfully.

This scumbag deserves the idiot of the year award, after he is proscuted to the fullest extent of federal statutes by my department. Justice is sweet.

a friend of mine has 63 impala...not even a few weeks after he painted it someone scratched it with a key....that's one reason I don't/won't make my car a dialy...never out of my sight

this is another reason I have spare emblems, taillights, glass etc

emblem repair trick, works like a charm
if you have a mill at your house, this is a snap, if not you can fairly easily do it with some cutting sheers and a drill.
take a thin very thin piece of sheet metal. cut it and drill it so it will fit behind the emblem unseen. glue the emblem to the sheet metal. if your emblem is just too hard to be able to do this, do as best you can, and paint the piece of sheet metal the same as your car. no one will know, especially if you do it right.
i tend to do this with all my emblems, they are so old and so easy to break, this keeps them very rigid.

Just thought I'd point out that the emblems on my D-100 are attached with tape. The studs are there; but, the factory only used them for alignment.

GT63, I think your emblems are made of pot metal, and if they are, here's what you can do:

Shave the snapped off portions of the pegs flat. Find some copper rod stock at a hobby shop, bring the rod clips from your emblem with you to verify proper diameter, then cut them to length, hold them with vise-grips and silver-solder them to the back of the emblem.

I learned this in jewelry casting. I cast a few jolly roger emblems to go on my 84 Continental and placed rods on the back using this process and it worked perfectly. Silver solder is also good for filling pits in door handles when theyve been stripped of all chrome. Polish them with jeweler's rouge and a buffing wheel and rechrome and they come back looking brand new.
