I have a 65 Barracuda with slant six that is my wife's daily driver. I put power disc brakes on the front and replaced all the suspension bushings a few years ago. Since then I have had to replace strut rod bushings twice. The last two times I used one piece polyurethane bushings. They seem to wear out awful fast. I don't think they are living much beyond 20,000 miles. How long should they last?

In reading the archives I see Moog makes a two piece bushing. How long do those last?

It looks like this car was hit in the left side at some time. The end of the left side lower control arm was bent, the left door has been replaced and the block is cracked above the left motor mount. Both strut rods bear hard on the right side of their holes in the frame and the holes are not at right angles to the rod. I am wondering if the K frame is bent and that is what is destroying the strut bushings. The car can be aligned and does not pull and the tires wear evenly. So if it is bent it isn't much.

Any thoughts on this or is it normal?

Ugh... I'd take er to a body shop and put it on the frame machine, just to yank it that last couple creaks to proper spec. Sounds like they tried to eyeball it last time.

Step,

Thanks for the reply! It seems obvious after I typed it out. How long should they last?

Marc, mine are true blue original to the car. No mention of any front end work in the car's service records going back to the PDI slip. The secret was slowing down for curbs, staying off dirt roads and only yanking the steering wheel with the car rolling. The car has 106K miles on it.

here's a closer look, the car was well taken care of and that's not about to change...
