I know, upgrade to discs instead... We started fiddling with A.J.'s '71 Swinger tonight... Will putting 10" drums in the rear and leaving the 9" drums in the front cause braking problems? The car needs all rear brake hardware and a master cylinder. We're just trying to get it going for now and I have a good complete rear end, but it has 10" drums. Thanks! Rob |

It will be OK, and I ran my '68 Dart like that for years. The braking was much improved when I put in a $40 adjustable prop valve in the rear line though. Lou |

9 inch drums are scary. i have them every day on my 71 duster and i HATE it. do yourself a favor, and while your doing the brakes you might as well put the 10 inch brakes in the front. you can get them basically for nothing because they are worthless. but the improved braking is worth the time it will take to swap over. there are nothing wrong with the larger drums as long as they are adjusted properly they stop fine for normal driving. but the 9 inch ones are just scary.. |
