Post subject:  Stray Wire Near Volt Limiter
:? OKAY, HERE WE GO.

I JUST DISLODGED MYSELF FROM UNDER THE DASH OF MY 67 DART. I WAS INSTALLING A VOLTAGE LIMITER WHEN I FOUND AN UN-ATTACHED WIRE REAL CLOSE TO IT WITH A "BLADE" TYPE CONNECTOR. WITH THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER STILL INSTALLED, IT IS TOUGH TO SEE UP IN THERE, SO I DONT KNOW WHAT ITS FOR OR WHAT COLOR IT IS.

ANY THOUGHTS? THE WIRING DIAGRAM IN MY HAYNES BOOK DOESNT SHOW IT, BUT, IT HAS ONLY 3 INCHES IN LENGTH OUTSIDE THE MAIN HARNESS. THAT INDICATES FACTORY TO ME AS THE HARNESS IS NOT MODIFIED. :idea: MAYBE THE DASH PANEL TO ENGINE GROUND?

It could be a pigtail for an optional accessory that wasnt installed in your car.

If the wire is black it is probably a ground as you suspect. Some of the voltage limiters have a blade that sticks up off the cover for a ground wire to connect. That's my best guess of what you have.
