Are the 2x1 manifolds any good? do they have the heat riser on the bottom? How many of you guys have messed with them, would one be a decent choice over a Super six? What carbs would be the best choice to use?

The Offy 2X1 is good and I have used both the Holley 1920 and Carter BBS carbs. I like the Holleys a little more, but there's not a huge difference. It does have the heat riser boss (stock exh mates to it fine). A lot of people have modified it for 2bbls, which is probably a nice setup.

You will get a little more power than a Supersix, and definitely better mileage. I actually haven't ever run a choke on these and they run fine after a few seconds of feathering (even down to -30 F!).

Very cool, just want to do something a lil' different. So whats the difference between the 1920 and the BBS? How is the hood clearance?

The Offy dual manifold is still available, here is a pic of one using dual Holley 1920 1 bbl carbs:

Proline Fuel has been using this manifold for their dual Weber carb set-up, those look and work pretty good.

Pretty cool lookin setup, does the front carb feed the front 3 cylinders and the rear the other 3? What motors/years did the 1920 come stock on, it looks shorter than my BBS?

The two carbs are interchangeable. I used a 64 Polara BBS air cleaner on my 69 Dart Holley 1920 and it fit like a glove. I doubt the height is any different. I would choose the BBS over the 1920 due to differences in the float design and metering block that I happen to prefer.

Are the ventuies the same size? If I get one I may try the 1920's because my BBS leaks and I've heard from acouple different folks that all of them do.

THAT I don't know. I would imagine the performance of them varies slightly, I wouldnt mix the two of them on a dual carb intake obviously. Yes the throttle shafts tend to wear out on them, but just rebush it. My peeve with the 1920 regards placement of the float in that it bogs on hard right cornering, and if the metering block gets plugged youre cooked. But,,, that isnt much of a problem because 1920s are plentiful. AND if you hunt around in junkyards, you can find glass float bowls on earlier non-slant variants of that carb that will fit yours!

But just like the Road Goblin ( ) says, you cant really go wrong. Ive used both on my slant and with the granny driving I do I havent noticed any real difference.
