ok here goes i am restoring a 1969 dart gt got a 360 to put in there and i am trying to find out what colour the block was from the factory in these car's (I know that it is not the orginial motor but it is what i got) I am guessing orange but i heard somewhere that some of them were gold all input greatly appriciated |

If you want it to look original, you have to decide what motor you want it to look like. In '69 the motor colors were; 225-Blue 318-Red 340-Turquoise, the 360 looks like the 340 (uses the same motor mounts) Cecil |

my 69 225 was and is turquoise. i also have an original dealer brochure showing turquoise ,not blue. my dad bought car new so nobody touched it. ron |

Turquoise is a better discription of that green / blue color they used. I never had much luck finding that color paint, any good sources for spry cans of that color? DD |

My 67 is Red and I was wondering if the red's for /6's are the same red used in the V8's..... I have been told it was and told it wasn't When I get ready to rebuild the engine I would like the color to be correct? |

WOW, Id better find this out fast, Im getting my engine coated in IMRON when it's done and I never thought matching the color would be a problem until now... Where could one get a properly shaded sample of that color? I don't have five years to go tracing down a NOS valve cover or anything. |

Well my /6 has the orignal paint, even thou its starting to flake off now... but I dont have any V8 to compare it to... My 79 360 is that Torq. |

Napa brand International Harvester red in the spray can is a dead match to my original engine color. |

While a source of consatant raging debate on many a list i suggest the following: paint it what ever color makes you happy. Red would be more "correct", the turq. is equally as "correct", blue works too. Just don't forget, nuthin' looks finer than something in HEMI orange. I do have one suggestion: go with a contrasting color. if your ride is retina searing red, don't paint your motor red-- it just gets washed out. That being said; no LA small block came from the factory in gold. Well unless you count the "pimp-mobile" option-- but then you got metal flake, houndstooth tuck-n-roll, and some wide whitewalls to complete the ensemble. <<tounge planted *firmly* in cheek>> Okay, here's the paint: http://store.yahoo.com/chucker54/paint1.html Another source is Bill Hierch (sp?). I find that his paint is a little thicker than the standard MP spray-bombs, but the colors and coverage are worth the small price difference. Reporting from the frontlines: -JYH |

hi, i tried the bill hirsh red and was not happy with color. i ended up using duplicolor chrysler industrial red. dead nuts match. doc, i have used the mopar turquoise on my 6 and some b-blocks. it doesn't spray like water and has held up well and matched perfect unlike some of there other colors. ron |

Hey Ron, thanx for the FYI on the Hirsch Red. I used his Hemi Orange and i thought it was pretty rock n' roll and was all set to get nuts with the red. As an aside, i used the MP turq. as well and it was bee-yoo-tee-full. Coverage and color were more than i could ask for, especially considering the price. The MP "race" hemi orange was great, but the "street" hemi orange was, how should i say, less than desireable. Paint is always a big thing to consider living here in the SoCal... we don't get the same paint everybody else does. :^( -JYH rattle can fiend |

Mopar turquoise? Do you mean you got it at the dealer? You wouldnt have the partnumber off the can would you? The original engine in my Dart was painted blue, not turquoise. Is it possible, guys, that the Windsor plant used blue in that year? Is there any way to know for sure??? |

hi,the mopar turquoise # is P4120752. it sprays well and matches. i have also used the street hemi and race hemi sprays but for some reason they spray like water. i did try the new restoration hemi orange P5007733 and it did spray thicker. it didn't match as well as the duplicolor . mopar probable got too many complaints from old spray bombs so came out with new #. ron |

Most of the colors carried by Chrysler are correct, but I've also found some of them to be "watery" and they take too many coats to cover. Their early slant and small block red was NOT correct the last time I bought it. As stated earlier, Duplicolor, Chrysler Industrial red is a perfect match and it does a good job of covering with a couple coats. |
