Can anyone help me to identify a 833 4 speed,..

OD?
What gearratios?
What year?
Long tailshaft? ( Edit: yes it is, bummer. :? )
Attachment to driveshaft?

Here are the numbers:

C-99539, C-13546 and PP8333489

And additionally some info on this engine would be appreciated:

3257 , 3698447-8 , 0923 BH , 2806830-10
( Edit: this "10" is the casting to work with when rebuilding, right?)

I can buy both cheap, for less than 2 bucks :roll: ( including starter, manifolds, carb) :roll: , but it's quite a drive picking them up.

3698447 is the 1975-1978 'BL' plug head

If it all came as a package and it's all matching (the last part of the vehicles VIN should be stamped on the engine pad and on the tranny pad)...I'd bet the A-833 is a truck OD unit just as a guess... (3.09:1, 1.67:1,1:1.0.73:1)

That's just a start....

Ok, this is what I've found so far:

4 speed
* Long tailshaft housing

engine
* 1975 -1977 head
* 225 block, forged crank 1968-1975

So, I'm assuming it's a 1975 piece, the A-833 OD was offered from this year, so I'm thinking it's an OD.

both pieces must have been living in a F-body or d100 or d200 truck before it got pulled, right??

Here is an enlarged photo of the exact block and gearbox i'm talking about. not looking too bad from what I can see.

Post subject:  not a/f body....

long tailshaft trannies are for some vans and most trucks....(not to say someone couldn't use a welder and make one work for their car (Talk to Dave Clement...)

Forged crank blocks can be had through 1976 (where the 'split' between forged and cast occurs ...no one knows...)...so to narrow it down you're probably looking at a 1975-1976 'truck' slant six with the A-833 OD (front shift paddle looks 'tilted' up)...

for 2 bux, I'd be picking it up for 'spare parts'....
