Am building a slt 6 with clifford products, 500 carb, clifford manifold, clifford shorty headers, 60 over on blk, oversized values, 9.75 to 1 comp, 8 3/4 rear end w/391 , 904 converted to 998A tranny with 277 1st, would greatly appreciate and feed back on the converter. everyone but clifford recommends 2500 and up, clifford claims a 1800 to 2000 max. Any suggestion or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thnks Mstuart |

2500-2800 should be about right for your set-up. The only thing to watch with a high stall converter is that the stall speed is below your common cruising RPM. You want the converter's stator to lock when your cruising down the highway so it does not wear-out the converter or overheat the trans fluid. |

I have a built /6 bored 30 over with a mild cam and a 2 barrel and a 904 auto tranny. The converter that i put in it is a 2800 stall, but i cant tell you how it performs because i havent got it on the road yet. But in the 2500 to 2800 rpm range sounds right to me. |

Wouldn't it also depend on what cam you're using? I didn't see you mention what cam is going in that motor. |
