| Post subject: | part number for z-bar ball stud bearings |
I am trying to find the part numbers for the ball stud and the bearing assembly, this is on the bell housing side but I assume it would be the same for either side. I don't know if it matters but the application is a 72 slant E-body with 3 speed. The ball stud is starting to square off and it appears the bearings have been missing for some time, would this be the same as a late F or A-body application. The ball stud is a attached directly to the bell housing, not the plate style. Also would an A-body 4 speed 833 OD trans be a bolt-in on an E-body with a slant or would I have to find a e-body 4 speed....would the a-body require a longer/ shorter drive shaft, and are the transmission splines different? A-body 4 speeds seem to easier to find a less costly than the E-body equipment. Thanks, Brian |

I found the four speed article on the main page and re-read it, disregard the discussion on the four speed got those questions answered there. |

The plastic bearings should be available from the dealer. In the past I have used a flat file to round off the "squared" out piece on the ball. |
