Post subject:  Too torquey Super Six?

Howdy again all! Some may remember, I swapped a Super Six/OD four speed into my '68 Valiant, and have been loving it! I blew the old 7 1/4 apart after swapping it in, so it must have some good "pep" in it.

My question, the engine/tranny moves around too much on hard acceleration, enough where it affects the Z-bar alignment/clutch pedal. I can watch the tranny torque over (still have the hole in the floor  ), and easily see it in the Hurst shifter wigglin' around. New motor and tranny mounts, and everything seems tight.

Anyone else have this problem before? I am considering putting a torque strap on the engine, or getting a solid motor mount, as the driver's side motor mount looks very similar to a small block mount. Anyone done either of these before?

Thanks all!! :P

Also, at higher speeds, I believe the torquing over is causing a mis-alignment and thus "shaking" tranny problem, but it could be the OD A-833 falling apart internally, or my u-joints. I'm going to pick a spare driveshaft up from the wrecking yard and have new u-joints pressed in later, should do that anyways, see if that clears up that problem. Not sure if its related, but I figured I'd mention it anyways....

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you have a problem with your tranny mount. I know you said it's new; but... that doesn't mean it's good.

I have seen a new poly-material trans mount offered, that could help.
As for solid engine mounts, that will be way too harsh for a street car.
A torque strap is the best solution to the problem.

I put an od tranny in last year and my shifter wobbles around (a lot) at idle to. The engine runs smooth as can be. Haven't had it on the road yet though. I'd like to hear the answer to this one.
