At speed/higher RPMs, the engine runs fine. When I start to come to a stop, the engine dies, or starts dying unless I pump the throttle a few times, and even then it doesn't sound too healthy. Its never done this before, and I've been reading all the different stalling/dying posts on here, and I'm not sure what would cause this problem. Before I start replacing everything, I thought I'd ask everybody here what they think is going on with my six. I swapped in an entire Super Six engine, put in the old points distributor with a new cap and rotor, and it ran great, until Sunday night. I haven't had a chance to check everything out (I'm at work), but want to see where people recommended I started. |

Obviousely check to make sure everything's tuned correctly, but also check to make sure all you spark plug wires are connect. This may sound stupid but a while back before I had an ignition kill switch I would disable my car by pulling the spark plug wire off the distributor and in the process accidentally disconnected a spark plug wire. My car didn't like it... Other than that just check to make sure nothing came loose, if you installed something recentely you may have not tightened a nut real well. These are the cheap ideas I can think of, let you know if I can think of anything else that could cause it out of the blue(since it sounds like most of the normal suggestions do not apply if you've already read through the previous posts). |

Well I was having the same problem myself. I took a look at my carb with my teacher and we see it's using a wee bit of juice. We lean it out a tad and it really helped with the bogging. I still get it once in a while (when I'm going a little to fast and need to stop). So maybe try that? If you find anything please tell! |

What happens if you turn the idle screw up higher? Does the engine run rough at a high idle? Have you adjusted the idle air / fuel mixture? Is there a vacuum leak? Does the stalling happen only when you try to stop fast, like the float level is set to high and the fuel "sloshes-over" as you stop fast? Has the valve lash ever been adjusted? Time to do some checking. DD |
