Pulled a 7.5" complete rearend from a '90 ford ranger. I'm going to see how it holds up behind my 170. It has 4.10 gears (open) but posi's are cheap for these. The width is about 1/2" narrower than an A-body rearend and it's got the 4 1/2" bolt pattern. I'll have to move the spring pearch's to the bottom of the axle housing. But this thing looks big and strong when you put it up next to a 7 1/4" mopar. I just thought a 8 3/4 was too much for a 170. I'll let you all know it works out.

Just as an FYI,

My buddy uses a '92 Ford Ranger as his Tow Company 'go-fer' vehicle, his wife flogged it one day and blew the diff, so he replaced it with a junkyard unit...he's now on his 3rd one. He even religiously checks the oil level.

sounds like a better/cheaper replacement unit though (7 1/4" aren't plentiful anymore in my area...)
